Historical Sights and Architecture across West Texas:
Colorado City

Further to the east down Interstate 20 from Big Spring is Colorado
City. This is a small town that has a lot of historic buildings.
Please click the photos for larger views. I apologize if some of
these pictures are a little fuzzy. This was the first time using this
camera and it was tough to tell if the image was truly in focus in the
viewer. This particular camera met an untimely end when it accidentally
fell to some rocks on a geological field trip. I will hope to have a
new camera and get some better shots when I return.

Here is the old City National Bank.

Another old bank in Colorado City. Both of these buildings
appear to be vacant.

This historic building houses a gift shop and insurance office.

The old Walgreen's Drug Store. This building was in real poor
shape
just 3 years ago but has been completely restored as a soda and coffee
shop. You can sit down at the original drugstore counter and stools and
order a malt, sandwich, or espresso or cappucino coffee. They also sell
Christian books, gifts, and candy...however they do not have a pharmacy
any more.

The Walgreen's sign. The new name of this establishment is the
Coffee
Cup Cafe.

Coffee Cup Cafe sign. I took some pictures inside but they did not
turn
out! Hope to have some in the future.

Side of the old Walgreen's with Coca-Cola sign.
More Colorado City photos to come.
