1937 Philco 37-610 Radio Repair Journal and Photos
by Chad Hauris, Retro Electronics and Audio Lab, Midland, TX. 10/3/06

This Philco 37-610 was a fairly straightforward repair job. We replaced some bad wiring and all capacitors, plus one resistor, added a power line fuse, and a new power cord.  We installed a new dial lamp socket too. The speaker was heavily damaged so we removed the output transformer and field coil from it. The field coil was pretty difficult to remove and required a chisel to lift out the rivets. We mounted the output transformer on the front of the radio chassis where the old filter capacitors were and mounted the field coil at the rear of the cabinet. A new Magnavox PM speaker was installed along with new grill cloth. Please click photos for larger views.
